Valerie and her Week of Wonders

I just got finished watching Valerie and her Week of Wonders for the 2nd time. This time I watched the 1970 film with the sound turned down and the Valerie Project playing. A group of musicians (including the guys from Espers) recorded a new soundtrack for the movie last year as part of the The Project Series. Most of the music went really well with the story but there were some moments when I would have preferred the orginial. Anyway, go see Valerie and her Week of Wonders because even though it's really bizarre it is so beautiful. I am completely in love with her white bedroom and was inspired to create a party board for it.

How-To Tuesday

To keep with the vintage theme, here are some tutorial posts that use vintage materials:

Vintage Bra Wristlet at Craft Chi

Rag Rug at the Vintage Chica

Vintage Pillowcase Lunchbox from Oh, Fransson!

Vintage Wallpaper Secretaries at Needle Book

Tuesday Treasures

I have been noticing a lot of vintage and vintage-inspired knick knacks and art popping up in the design blogs and magazines. I really like the look of mostly white objects with bursts of color like in this sneak peek over at Design Sponge and Holly's new friend, Oscar. Here are some of my favorite things coming out of Etsy right now.

Ceramic Owl Bank from fruit fly pie; Fantastic Brass Whale from go go abigail; Vintage letter N from blue bell bazaar; Trailer Park Plate from trixie delicious; Bird Cake Stand from whitney smith; Help Me Rhonda clock from trixie and radar; Elephant Book Print from PolYesterday; Vintage porcelain birds from Emily Lynch; Custom Monogrammed Plate from kelly wilson antiques; Leaf Collage from petit collage; Milk Bottle Set from cyrus the potter; W is for Wolf from Two Sarahs

Vintage Etsy - Updated

I think all the thrifty divas at flickr influenced my decision to not show off a designer this week but some cool vintage shops instead. I recently joined the Etsy Vintage Community and befriended lots of cool sellers. One of my favorites, not only for the selection but for the photos' and website's sex appeal, is Black Raven Vintage.

Another great, affordable shop with lots of selection is Road Trip Journal.

Ok I couldn't help myself - Orla Kiely's (this link should be working now but if not - http://www.orlakiely.com/home/) collection is just amazing! There is definitely some vintage influence here with a punch of modern colors!
{thank you to Ali and Alyson for posting about this!}
