Sparkle Motion

Once upon a time I thought sequins were made exclusively for pageant princesses, mother-of-the-brides and Vegas showgirls. Now I understand that in small dosages a little sparkle can go a long way.

Gilt Fuse

Gilt was my favorite place to go for fancy things I still couldn't afford even though they're marked down, like, over 70%. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better they came up with Gilt Fuse! A shop that I can't afford just a little less! Captain says I can splurge on this cardigan (too bad only size large is left) and dress by Mara Hoffman since things have been so crappy lately. Thanks babe!*

PS: If you need an invite let me know. ;)
*I typically don't ask before I spend my own money on things that I want but since all of our funds right now should be dedicated to this housing situation then I thought I would ask. I would be a little peeved if he splurged on $300 worth of records when we don't even have a bed.

This is Why I Need to Move to Echo Park

Next LA trip will involve Delilah Bakery and Tavin, the new "concept" vintage/art boutique by Erin Julie Tavin.

The Uniform Project

The Uniform Project started in May 2009 as a year-long project to wear the heck out of one dress. Well, actually seven dresses but use your imaginiation. It is an experiment in sustainable fashion. Check out what it's all about and the outfits thusfar!

Emily Katz

Emily was featured on Urban Weeds yesterday and from (stalking) reading the comments I came across her website. Her eco-friendly designs are so unique and wonderful. Love the plum skirt!

Urban Weeds

I am REALLY (notice the CAPS) excited about the new Portland street style blog by Chelsea Fuss and Lisa Warninger. Finally, a street style blog with normal people in attainable outfits that are cute!

Jackson, Johnston & Roe.

My friend Noa sent me the link to her friend's clothing line - Jackson, Johnston & Roe. I love the sophisticated cut and the 40s summer camp (for grown ups) feel of their Spring 2009 collection. I think I would feel like Katharine Hepburn on holiday in these outfits.

I also love the story behind the design trio:

"Childhood friends Sara Moffat, Teo Griscom, and Riley Salyards assumed their mothers' maiden names for their womenswear design endeavor -- jackson, johnston & roe. Drawing on interdisciplinary strength (art, theatre and painting), the design trio combines their aesthetic visions to create clothing that is timeless and of the time."

For even more info on this amazing collection check out Pia Jane Bijkerk's post.

Sessùn Summer 09 Lookbook

I love the Summer 09 collection from Sessùn. This dress is exactly what I want for a reception dress.

Geek Chic Aussie Style

Seriously, what is it about Australia that just makes everyone cooler. I'm not sure what "geek" means over (down?) there but I'm pretty sure it's not in the Urkel kind of way we say it because this couple looks pretty hot to me.

Burfitt Spring/Summer 2009

The pin-up, peach on the beach, '50s sailor girl get up from Burfitt's 2009 Spring/Summer Collection makes me want to hit the boardwalk and fill up on some funnel cake pronto.

Would You Wear This?

Nole at Oh So Beautiful Paper posted some photos from Project Runway winner Christian Siriano's new collection. The wedding gown is quite beautiful though beyond frilly but I'm not sure how I feel about the other watercolor-y dresses.

Are they a "hot mess" or would you consider rocking a Siriano dress?

I do actually love this dress.

Trendy Teeny Boppers

When did the starting age for fashionistas become 11 years old? Seriously, I was wearing turtlenecks, paisley vests and pleated pants at age 11. (I'm not lying. There is photographic evidence of this.) Now all these extremely fashion-savvy pre-teens are popping up on Weardrobe and Lookbook!

My favorite (above) - Miss Tavi. Her blog is really sweet (and by sweet I mean quirky goodness).

Golden Globe Favorites and Spring Color Forecast

I'm going to kill two posts with one stone here and name my favorite dresses from last night's Golden Globes as well my personal Spring color/style predictions.

Christina Applegate/Pale Yellow

Her necklace is stunning!

Olivia Wilde/Lavendar

She rocks 50's prom.

Drew Barrymore/Smoky Blue

Hate the hair. Love the dress.

Rumor Willis/Aubergine

My absolute FAVORITE of the night. I'm sorry but I think this girl is GORGEOUS. I don't care what Perez Hilton says.

I think we're just going to see more and more throwbacks to 30s, 40s and 50s glam. And I am STOLKED!

Pantone Spring 2009

I have mixed feelings about my new favorite color - Fuschia - being one of the hues found in the Pantone Spring 2009 Color Report. It will be splendid to have more fuschia options, I suppose, but what usually happens when something I like becomes enormously popular I just stop liking it. Boo.

I'm doing a detox and am so delirous from not having caffeine that I can't even make my own inspiration board for this one. Here are a couple amazing fuschia boards I found:

Rebecca Taylor

Rebecca Taylor has a the sweetest website. Sure, I can't afford a thing in there {even though I would love to wear everthing in there) but at least I can have fun clicking on little deeries and birdies.

Weardrobe

There are SO many of these self-obsessed, self-indulgent fashion photo sites now...and I love it! As of today, I think I might be too old to post photos. When did fashionistas start at age 12 (more on this phenomenon later)? I discovered Weardrobe today which might be my favorite so far.
