What You Get For...

I just came across the "What You Get For..." series in the NYTimes today. I seriously need to get out of California. These houses are insane and all under $190K. What???

I had to share this one too in Adirondack Park, NY. I would trade the sun for snow if I lived here!

  2. The houses where I live, in Canada, are relatively inexpensive compared to bigger cities. I can't deal with the snow anymore and I'm getting rid of my 2000+ sq. ft house to try and find a warmer climate... you're only saying that you would take the snow because you don't know how bad a long winter can be!! There's not much I wouldn't give to live in California!

  3. Ha ha... I was just looking at houses outside of CA and thinking the same thing when your post popped into my reader. I love CA, but it kills me to see such amazing homes for so much less outside CA. Maybe someday... That first home is amazing. I love the details. It's screaming my name. : )

  4. You have good taste, the first home looks so whimsical and pretty, the second, modern and refreshing. The last is a lovely combination!

  8. The last house is my taste to a tee. I love the stove, and the pretty colours in the kitchen. My kitchen in my rented flat is pokey and dark. I have a yearning to buy a place soon. Real soon. x

  9. If I lived in the Adirondacks I could just head on down to the lake to spear my own fish for tacos, no?

  10. having lived in both new england and southern california I have to admit that I'm happy to trade my $190,000 dream house for my 65 and sunny January. But if I could put one of those fabulous homes on a truck and haul it out here- that would be perfection!

  11. It's amazing how expensive land can be. I'd rather live in a colder climate with my dream house. I'm a homebody at heart so I think where you live is the most important. You can always take the money you'd save on property taxes alone and travel to warmer climates during vacations.
